Growing To Learn: New Ideas In Child Education

As a teacher aide who has recently returned to the profession after a fifteen-year break, I am impressed and somewhat overwhelmed by the new innovations and techniques being used to educate children. The use of interactive boards, self-directed learning and differentiation are just some of the practices which I find interesting and inspiring. Of course, many traditional methods such as storytelling are used to motivate children as well. In my conversations with parents, I realise that many of them feel inadequate and are unsure about ways to reinforce learning at home. This blog is designed to highlight the best of child education and reassure parents that they can be excellent teachers as well. I hope that my readers are encouraged by the ideas and information contained within. I wish you joy in watching your children grow and learn.

High School Enrolment: A Guide to the Process and Support on Offer

Some young people may feel nervous about enrolling in high school. But with a little knowledge of the process, any fears around starting high school can be easily quelled. This article guides you through what you can expect to happen during high school class enrolment and the other support that is on offer to help navigate your way through the process. Read on to discover everything you need to know!

Complete any paperwork

The first step is filling out the forms, which include:

  • A form asking for your personal information such as name, email address, phone number, gender and date of birth
  • A class preference form (here you choose the classes you would like to take)
  • Details of the attendance requirement for each class
  • A form asking your parent or guardian for their signature
  • An emergency contact information form

Your advisor will discuss this with you further when it is time to fill out these forms.

Consult your parent or guardian

During this time, your parent or guardian might be able to visit your future classes with you and help you choose which classes suit your interests best. This way, when it is time for class enrolment, you can make a better decision about what classes to choose. If it's not possible for them to attend with you or if they have trouble making decisions about your classes, don't worry! You should receive a document with all of the information in case you or they need it. It may also be necessary for them to call the high school and schedule a time to meet with your tutors.

Familiarising yourself with the school and your new classes

On the day of enrolment, you will receive your timetable for the year and a class list telling you which teachers you have and what time their class starts. You will also be given a letter informing you which car park to use and where to line up for your class. The first few days of high school are all about familiarising yourself with these things! Be sure to ask questions if there is anything you don't understand so you can get used to it as soon as possible.

Finding out information such as timetables, location of lockers and other essential details can help make your transition into high school easier! For more information, you should make contact with your high school enrolment office. A member of the team will be happy to help you.
